“DR. RAVI G. BHARADWAJ, MBBS, M.S.(ORTHO), MRCS, DipSICOT, FRCS (TRAUMA & ORTHO) Dr.Ravi Bharadwaj passed his MBBS exam from Calcutta National Medical College in 1993 and his MS(Orthopaedics) exam from the University of Calcutta in 1999. He worked in the West Bengal Medical Education Service for five years, initially as Clinical Tutor and later as Assistant Professor, at the Dept. of Orthopaedics at Calcutta Medical College, Calcutta. He passed his MRCS exam and the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) exam (affiliated to the Royal college of surgeons, Edinburgh) while in the UK. He has also passed the Dip SICOT exam conducted by the International Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SICOT), based in Brussels, Belgium. Dr.Bharadwaj worked for the NHS in England and Scotland for seven years. He is also an associate of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons and a senior faculty with AOTrauma,India. Dr.Bharadwaj has a cumulative orthopaedic experience of twenty six years, working both in India and in the U.K . He has several national and international presentations and publications to his credit. He is the inventor of the versatile “Kolkata frame” which is a modular type of dynamic, external fixator for treating PIP fracture dislocations of the finger. This fixator has achieved widespread interest and recognition and has been accepted as a video presentation this year at the American Society for Surgery of the Hand conference in Chicago this year. He is also one of the founder members of the Wrist Society of India and a Life member of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand (ISSH) and the Asia-Pacific Wrist Association. His special interests include carpal instabilities and wrist arthroscopy. He is single handedly responsible for the recognition and awareness of hand surgery as a separate subspecialty in West Bengal. He is currently working as a senior consultant orthopaedic surgeon (with special interest in hand and wrist surgery) at Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals, Kolkata, India.
